WFTDA Championships Begin Tomorrow

The Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) championships begin tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. Mountain time in Broomfield, CO.

At stake is the Hydra trophy and the claim to fame of being the best team in roller derby.

Last season featured a historic finish in the championship bout between the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls and the Oly Rollers, where Rocky came away victorious with an exhilarating last jam.

The teams in the championship tournament were decided in divisional playoff tournaments held all over the US over the last couple of months and 12 teams are left to compete in the tournament. Gotham, Philly and Charm City represent the East. Oly, Rocky and Rose City represent the West. Texas, Kansas City and Nashville represent the South Central and Windy City, Minnesota and Naptown represent the North Central.

The three days of competiton should be some of the most exciting derby competition of the season.
